How to Generate and activate EPF UAN Number Online @ epfindia.com : Universal Account Number simply called as UAN is a unique number generated for each and every PF contributing members by EPFO. The UAN reduces the difficulty of handling multiple Ids allotted to an individual by different employers. The account number of UAN can simplify the problems associated with PF withdrawals and transfers. It reduces the unconcern of employers. It also makes the EPF withdrawal process handy and less time taking. In order to make use of the services offered by UAN, the EPF member should have UAN number in first place.
In case if you don’t have a UAN number by yourself then you can get it very easily. You no need to pay a visit to any of the regional offices of EPFO, you can get it in no time through online. If you were allotted with the UAN, but your employer is refusing to give it to you then you can get it through online from the official website of UAN. You can also get the UAN number even if you are unemployed. EPFO has not just provided UAN facility to the employed PF members, but also for unemployed PF members. There are many EPF members who have the PF account number but still were not allotted with the UAN number. This is because their contribution in the account lacks. Such people can get the UAN through online without any hassle.

How to generate UAN Number Online?
Step 1
Go visit the UAN member e-Sewa Portal
Step 2
Go to the uanmembers.epfoservices.in and click on ‘Know Your UAN Status’ tab
Step 3
The link will navigate to a new page where you need to enter your PF number. Fill the other fields. As you have not allotted the UAN, you will see a message saying “Your UAN is not allotted for member ID XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Kindly provide the following details for generating new UAN.”
Step 4
Now, you need to fill in all the mandatory fields with appropriate details and also set a password. This process will make you register on the UAN portal, which requires a password.
Step 5
You need to authenticate your mobile number. To do so, click on ‘GET PIN’ option in the page and also click on the check box of ‘I AGREE’ after which you will receive a PIN through SMS. Enter this PIN in the given field.
Step 6
On submission, you will see a message that reads “Your request for UAN for Member ID XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is submitted successfully. Request ID is XXXXXXXX. The UAN details shall be communicated to you on SMS within 7 working days”
You need to keep the UAN request ID safe as it will be used to track the application.
How to check UAN Generation Status
After placing the request for UAN through online, users can check the generation status to know the status of their UAN generation.
- To check the UAN generation status, click on the link saying Check your UAN generation request status.
- The link will direct you to a new page where you need to fill the request ID in the specified slot and submit it.
- On successful submission of request id, you will be able to see the status of new UAN generation.
One has to know that this process should only be used by the EPF members who already have UAN number or who have applied for UAN with other EPF member ID.
After the UAN is generated successfully, make sure to activate it. This is because the member will receive the benefits of UAN only after the activation. This is how you generate the UAN and check the UAN request status.
